Note: Religion of eastern Christian churches that recognize three of the ecumenical councils, the First Council of Nicaea, the First Council of Constantinople, and the First Council of Ephesus, but they reject the dogmatic definitions of the Council of Chalcedon of 451 CE, particularly the tenet that Jesus is one person in two complete natures, one human and one divine. The Oriental Orthodox maintain that this view is too close to the Nestorian heresy, which held that Christ was two distinct beings, the divine Logos and the human Jesus.

Dutch ..... Religie van oostelijke christelijke kerken die drie van de oecumenische concilies erkennen: het Eerste Concilie van Nicea, het Eerste Concilie van Constantinopel en het Eerste Concilie van Efeze. Ze verwerpen echter de dogmatische definities van het Concilie van Chalcedon van 451 n.Chr, met name de stelling dat Jezus één persoon is met twee volledige naturen, een menselijke en een goddelijke. De oosters-orthodoxen vinden dat dit gezichtspunt te dicht bij de nestoriaanse ketterij staat, volgens welke Christus twee verschillende wezens was: de goddelijke Logos en de menselijke Jezus.
