Note: An apparatus that produces a blast of air to a furnace or a forge by means of falling water, and that separates the air and water at a secondary stage. Specifically, a blowing apparatus with no moving parts used in Italian, Spanish and other Mediterranean countries' metallurgical plants until the 19th century. A blast of wet air is supplied to a furnace through the action of falling water, which carries air downward by means of the Venturi effect to a barrel where the air is separated and sent through a pipe, or "tuyere," to the furnace.

| Dutch ..... Apparaat dat een luchtstoot naar een oven of smidsvuur voert door middel van vallend water, waarbij het water en de lucht in een tweede fase worden gescheiden. In specifieke zin, een blaasapparaat zonder bewegende delen dat tot in de 19de eeuw werd gebruikt in metallurgische fabrieken in Italië, Spanje en andere Middellandse Zeelanden. Een stoot vochtige lucht wordt naar een oven gevoerd door middel van vallend water, waarbij de lucht middels het zogeheten Venturi-effect naar beneden wordt gezogen. In een vat wordt de lucht dan gescheiden en door een pijp of 'tuyere' naar de oven gevoerd. |
| German ..... Vorrichtung, die mit Hilfe von fallendem Wasser einen Luftstoß in einem Ofen oder einer Esse erzeugt und auf einer zweiten Stufe Wasser und Luft voneinander trennt. Im Besonderen eine Gebläseapparatur ohne bewegliche Teile, die bis in das 19. Jahrhundert in den Metallurgieanlagen Italiens, Spaniens und anderer mediterraner Länder eingesetzt wurde. Ein feuchter Luftstoß wird in einen Ofen mit Hilfe fallenden Wassers, welches Luft mit sich nach unten führt, geleitet. Die Luft wird durch den Venturi-Effekt in einer Tonne vom Wasser getrennt und dann durch eine Röhre oder "Tuyere" zum Ofen geleitet. |
