Note: Refers to the first photographs produced by William Henry Fox Talbot. They were created with a printing-out process, some as photograms and others with a camera. Distinguished from "calotypes" which were produced by Talbot's later improved and patented developing-out process called "calotype." In the mid-19th century, sometimes used as a synonym of photographs. For most prints made from these negatives, use "salted paper prints."

| Dutch ..... Foto's vervaardigd door positieve afdrukken van een negatief te maken, waarbij de lichtgevoelige laag wordt gevormd door een zilververbinding van keukenzout en zilvernitraat. Gebruik 'zoutdrukken' voor dergelijke afdrukken na de verbetering van het procédé door de bedenker ervan, William Henry Fox Talbot, in 1840. Te onderscheiden van 'kalotypieën', negatieven vervaardigd met het kalotypieprocédé. |
| German ..... Bezeichnet die ersten Fotografien von William Henry Fox Talbot. Sie wurden durch ein Druck-Verfahren hergestellt, manche als Fotogramme und andere mit der Kamera. Sie unterscheiden sich von der "Kalotypie”, die mit Talbots später verbessertem und patentierten Entwicklungsverfahren, das "Kalotypie” genannt wird, hergestellt wurden. Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde der Begriff manchmal als Synonym für Fotografie verwendet. Für die meisten Abzüge von diesen Negativen wird "Salzwasserabzug” verwendet. |

Se distingue de "calotipo" que es producido por el proceso de revelado patentado por Talbot llamado "calotipia". A mediados del siglo XIX, algunas veces usado como un sinónimo de fotografías. Para la mayoría de las copias hechas desde este negativo, usar "copias en papel salado". |
