Note: Refers to an early Christian Gnostic movement that rivaled Catholic Christianity in the second and third centuries. The sect's founder, Marcion (died ca. 160), held the dualistic belief that the God of the Old Testament was not the same as the God of the New Testament and that the Old Testament was not a Christian book. As Christianity and Judaism are not connected in his view, he thought the New Testament should be purified of all Jewish elements. Marcion organized many ascetic communities and compiled the first known canon of scripture. Most Marcionites were absorbed into Manichaeism by the late third century. The term is sometimes used more generally to refer to deliberate or benign neglect of the Old Testament within Christianity.

Chinese (traditional) ..... 西元二、三世紀時,和天主教並駕齊驅的基督諾思替教派(Christian Gnostic movement)。建立者馬吉安(Marcion, 卒於西元160年)相信二元說,認為舊約的神和新約的神不同,舊約不是基督教的經典。他認為基督教和猶太教並無關聯,因此新約應去除所有猶太元素。馬吉安建立了很多苦修組織,並編撰了首部聖經正典。到第三世紀末時,大部分的馬吉安教徒被吸收進摩尼教(Manichaeism)。此詞彙有時被用來泛指基督教中對舊約故意或善意的忽略。 
Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een vroegchristelijke gnostische beweging die in de 2de en 3de eeuw rivaliseerde met het katholieke christendom. De stichter van de beweging, Marcion (overleden circa 160), verkondigde het dualistische geloof dat de God van het Oude Testament niet dezelfde was als de God van het Nieuwe Testament en dat het Oude Testament geen christelijk boek was. Omdat er volgens hem geen verband was tussen het christendom en het jodendom vond hij dat het Nieuwe Testament moest worden gezuiverd van alle joodse elementen. Marcion zette een groot aantal ascetische gemeenschappen op en stelde de eerste bekende canon van geschriften samen. De meeste marcionisten waren tegen het eind van de 3de eeuw opgegaan in het manicheïsme. De term wordt soms meer algemeen gebruikt om te verwijzen naar het opzettelijk of minzaam negeren van het Oude Testament binnen het christendom.

El fundador de la secta, Marcio (murió dC. 160), sostuvo la creencia dualista que el Dios del Antiguo Testamento no era el mismo que el Dios del Nuevo Testamento y que el Antiguo Testamento no era un libro cristiano. Como Cristiandad y Judaísmo no tienen el mismo punto de vista, él pensó que el Nuevo Testamento debería purificarse de todos los elementos judíos. Marcion organizó muchas comunidades ascéticas y compiló el primer canon conocido de escritura. La mayoría de los Marcionitas fueron asimilados por el Maniqueismo a fines del siglo tercero. El término es generalmente usado para referirse al deliberado o negligente mal uso del Antiguo Testamento dentro de la Cristiandad.
