Note: Refers to the principle of respect for all life and the practice of non-injury to all living beings; it is found in Buddhism, some Hindu sects, and especially Jainism. Ahimsa is based on the belief that all living creatures are sacred and that violence has negative effects on those who commit it, for example, harming a living thing may result in an unfavorable reincarnation. The term comes from the Sanskrit meaning 'not-harming.'

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 指尊重所有生命的構造及不傷害所有生靈的的具體實踐,源自佛教、一些印度教派別、尤其是耆那教。不殺生是因為相信所有生命皆為神聖,而暴力會對那些施行者產生負面影響,例如:傷害生靈可能導致不好的輪迴。此詞彙得自梵文,意指「不傷害」。 
Dutch ..... Verwijst naar het beginsel van eerbied voor al het leven en geweldloosheid tegenover alle levende wezens, dat wordt aangetroffen in het boeddhisme, bepaalde hindoegemeenschappen en vooral het jaïnisme. Ahimsa is gebaseerd op de overtuiging dat alle levende wezens heilig zijn en dat geweld negatieve gevolgen heeft voor hen die het plegen; zo kan het toebrengen van schade aan iets levends resulteren in een ongunstige reïncarnatie. De term komt uit het Sanskriet en betekent 'niet kwaad doend'. 
Spanish ..... Se refiere al principio de respeto por toda forma de vida y la práctica de no dañar a ninguno de los seres vivientes; se encuentra en el Budismo, algunas sectas hindúes, y sobre todo en el Jainismo. Ahimsa se basa en la creencia que todas las criaturas vivientes son sagradas y que la violencia tiene efectos negativos en aquéllos que la cometen, por ejemplo, el dañar una cosa viviente puede provocar una reencarnación desfavorable. El término viene del significado Sánscrito "no-dañar."
