Note: Tanzanite is the blue and violet variety of the mineral zoisite (a calcium aluminium hydroxyl sorosilicate), caused by small amounts of vanadium. Tanzanite belongs to the epidote mineral group. Tanzanite is only found in Tanzania, in a very small mining area (approximately 4.3 mi long and 1.2 mi) wide near the Mererani Hills. |

Dutch ..... Tanzaniet is de blauwe en violette variant van het mineraal zoisiet (een calciumaluminiumhydroxylsorosilicaat), veroorzaakt door kleine hoeveelheden vanadium. Tanzaniet behoort tot de epidoot-mineraalgroep. Tanzaniet wordt alleen gevonden in Tanzania, in een zeer klein mijngebied (ongeveer 7 km lang en 2 km breed) in de buurt van de Mererani-heuvels. |
