Note: Order containing 309 species in five families including hawks, falcons, eagles, the secretary bird, Old World vultures, and condors. They are characterized by typically have a sharply hooked beak with a cere (soft mass) housing the nostrils, long and fairly broad wings suitable for soaring flight, strong legs and feet with raptorial claws and an opposable hind claw, most are carnivorous, hunting by sight during the day or at twilight, and being exceptionally long-lived with low reproductive rates. They date from the Middle Eocene.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 目名，目下有五科共309個物種，包括鷹、隼、鵰、鷺鷹、舊世界禿鷹與兀鷹。通常具有銳利的鉤喙、鼻孔上有蠟膜（柔軟的團塊）覆蓋、相當寬闊的長翅膀適合翱翔飛行、強壯的腿與腳具有適合捕獵的爪以及一可相對的後爪，多半為肉食性，在日間或薄暮時以目視觀察進行捕獵，壽命相當長但繁殖率低，發源於始新紀中期。 |
| Dutch ..... Orde van 5 families met 309 soorten, waaronder de havik, valk, adelaar, secretarisvogel en condor. Gewoonlijk hebben de vogels uit deze orde een zeer scherpe haaksnavel met een washuid (vlies op de snavel) waarin de neusgaten zitten, lange en tamelijk brede vleugels die geschikt zijn voor thermiekvliegen, sterke poten met grijpklauwen en een opponeerbare achterklauw. De meeste soorten zijn carnivoren. Ze jagen op zicht, overdag of in de schemering, en leven uitzonderlijk lang, maar reproduceren zich langzaam. De eerste soorten ontstonden in het Midden-Eoceen. |
