Note: The process of cutting spiral grooves in the surface of a firearm projectile or the bore of a firearm barrel, also for the system of grooves so cut. The grooves impart a spinning motion to the projectile, thus equalizing its balance in flight and stabilizing its trajectory.

Chinese (traditional) ..... 在槍支子彈或槍管內膛的表面切出螺旋狀凹字溝,亦可指經此方式切割的溝槽。凹溝在子彈射出時使其旋轉移動,因而子彈能平衡飛行,彈道穩定。 
Dutch ..... Wordt gebruikt voor het procédé waarbij spiraalvormige groeven in het oppervlak van een vuurwapenprojectiel of in het kaliber van de loop worden gesneden, en voor het systeem van groeven die op die manier zijn gemaakt. De groeven geven het projectiel een draaiende beweging waardoor zijn balans in de lucht gelijk wordt getrokken en zijn baan gestabiliseerd. 
Spanish ..... Surcos cortantes en forma de espirales en la superficie de un proyectil de un arma de fuego o en el barril de arma de fuego. Los surcos imparten un movimiento de hilado al proyectil, así se mantiene su equilibrio en el vuelo y la estabilización de su trayectoria.
