Note: In visual art theory and practice, effects obtained by the juxtaposition of different colors and shades and tones of the same color, as opposed to mixing the paints of pigments before applying them. For instance, Neo-Impressionist painters obtained secondary colors of enhanced brilliance by juxtaposing dabs of the primary colors that constitute the secondary color.

Binnen de theorie van de beeldende kunst, effecten die ontstaan door het naast elkaar plaatsen van verschillende kleuren en tinten en tonen van dezelfde kleur, in plaats van de pigmentverven voor het aanbrengen te mengen. Zo verkregen de neo-impressionistische schilders secundaire kleuren met een nog grotere helderheid door het naast elkaar plaatsen van vlekjes in primaire kleuren die samen de secundaire kleur vormen. |
