Note: Bench-like pieces of furniture for the use of a person at prayer, consisting of a kneeler with a narrow upright front surmounted by a ledge for books or for resting the elbows, and often a shelf below this for storing books. For similar pieces that are in the form of a low chair, use "prie-dieu chairs."

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Bank-achtige meubels voor het gebruik door een persoon in gebed, bestaande uit een bidbank met een smalle opstaande voorkant met daarboven een lessenaar voor boeken of om de ellebogen te rusten en vaak een plankje daaronder om boeken te bergen. Voor soortgelijke meubels die in de vorm van een lage stoel, gebruik 'prie-dieu chairs'. 
German ..... Bankähnliches Möbelstück, das beim Beten von einer Pesron genutzt wird, bestehend aus einer "Kniebank" mit einer schmalen geraden Vorderseite, die oben durch eine Ablage für Bücher oder Ellenbogen abgeschlossen ist und oft einem Regalbrett darunter, um Bücher aufzubewahren. Für ein ähnliches Stück in der Form eines niedrigen Stuhls, verwende "Prie-Dieu".
