Note: Refers to the early phases of the style and period that flourished in the Île-de-France with the emergence of the strong French monarchy and resulting building campaigns in the mid-12th century, and spread to other European centers. The style is characterized by a new departure from the thick supporting walls of the earlier, massive Romanesque structures to a quest for lighter, thinner, elongated proportions and greater interior illumination, using pointed arches, ribbed vaults, more open interior spaces, and enormous stained glass windows.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de vroegste fasen van de stijl en de periode die opbloeide in Ile-de-France ten tijde van de opkomst van een sterke Franse monarchie en de daaruit voortkomende bouwactiviteiten in het midden van de 12de eeuw en die zich verspreidde naar andere Europese centra. De stijl kenmerkt zich door de introductie van lichtere constructies, dunnere muren en meer interieurverlichting, in tegenstelling tot de zware en massieve Romaanse steunmuren.In de architectuur maakt men gebruik van spitsbogen, kruisribgewelven, meer open binnenruimtes en enorme gebrandschilderde ramen. |

Fait référence aux débuts du style et de la période qui ont prospéré en Île-de-France avec l’émergence d’une monarchie française forte et les vagues de construction qui ont suivi au milieu du 12e siècle, et qui se sont ensuite étendues à d’autres régions d’Europe. Le style se caractérise par un abandon des murs de soutènement épais des structures romanes massives antérieures au profit d’une recherche de proportions plus légères, plus fines et plus allongées et d’une plus grande luminosité intérieure, en utilisant des arcs brisés, des voûtes nervurées, des espaces intérieurs plus ouverts et d’énormes vitraux. |

Se refiere a las fases tempranas del estilo y período que florecieron en la Île-de-Francia con el surjimiento de la monarquía francesa centralizada y las campañas de construcción resultantes a mediados del siglo XII y que se extendió a otros centros europeos. El estilo se caracteriza por un abandono de los muros de soporte gruesos propios de las masivas estructuras del período Romanesque más temprano, por una búsqueda de proporciones más alargadas, delgadas e iluminadas y una mayor iluminación interior, empleando arcos puntiagudos, bóvedas con vigas, espacios interiores más abiertos y vidrieras de colores enormes. |
