Dutch ..... Ruimten die groter zijn dan kamers, in gebouwen van allerlei aard. Wordt ook gebruikt voor de belangrijkste ruimten van middeleeuwse huizen en voor grote ruimten in aanzienlijke huizen. 
German ..... Großer, stattlicher öffentlicher Raum in einem Herrenhaus, Palast oder anderem Gebäude, der für Empfänge, Bankette oder anderen Zusammenkünfte genutzt wird. In einem Privathaus übertrifft er in Größe und Bedeutung die Wohnräume, Vorräume, Durchgangsbereiche oder Lagerhaltungsbereiche.
