Note: Refers to lead-glazed English earthenware vessels with a red body and a brownish-black glaze commonly found near the sites of Cistercian monasteries in England. These vessels, often mugs and tankards, were mostly made during the early 16th century. Although most pre-date the dissolution of the monasteries in 1540, a dated example of 1599 indicates continued production. Cups were the speciality of the Cistercian ware potters, but jugs, costrels, candlesticks, chafing dishes, salts and bowls were also produced. Most Cistercian ware is undecorated but some examples are distinguished by horizontal ribbing or by white slip ornamentation of rosettes or roundels. Potteries making these wares were located at Abergavenny, Monmouthshire; Tickford, Derbyshire; and Wrotham, Kent.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 指英國的鉛釉陶器，即一種表面施以棕黑色釉的紅色陶器，常見於英國數間西多會修道院（Cistercian monasteries）院址附近。西多陶器多為馬克杯及大啤酒杯，大部分製造於西元十六世紀早期。雖然大部分西多陶器皆在1540年修道院解散之前製造，卻有發現製造於1599年份的陶器，顯示其生產仍持續進行。西多陶器製匠的專長在於製杯，不過他們也製造罐子、酒壺、燭台、餐爐、鹽罐和碗。大部分的西多陶器皆無裝飾，不過也有些特例，其上以橫向稜紋或白色細條塑成的的玫瑰花形或圓形物裝飾。製作此類陶器之工廠位於蒙茅思郡的阿伯加文尼（Abergavenny, Monmouthshire）、德貝郡的提克福德（Tickford, Derbyshire）和肯特郡的魯特姆（Wrotham, Kent）。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar Engels aardewerken vaatwerk met loodglazuur, met een rode romp en een bruinzwart glazuur, die vaak in de buurt van Cisterciënzer kloosters in Engeland zijn aangetroffen. Het merendeel van dit vaatwerk dateert uit het begin van de 16de eeuw. Hoewel de meeste exemplaren van vóór de ontbinding van de kloosters in 1540 dateren, bewijst een gedateerd exemplaar uit 1599 dat de productie ook daarna is voortgezet. De makers van cisterciënzer keramiek waren gespecialiseerd in bekers, maar men vervaardigde ook kannen, pelgrimsflessen, kandelaars, schotelwarmers, zoutvaten en kommen. Cisterciënzer aardewerk is meestal niet gedecoreerd, maar sommige exemplaren hebben opvallende horizontale ribben, of zijn versierd met witte engobe of rozetten of medaillons. Pottenbakkerijen waar dergelijk aardewerk werd vervaardigd, bevonden zich in Abergavenny (Monmouthshire), Tickford (Derbyshire) en Wrotham (Kent). |
| Spanish ..... Referido a vasos de loza glaseada inglesa con un cuerpo rojo y un glaseado negro marrón comunmente encontrado cerca de sitios de monasterios cistercienses en Inglaterra. Estos vasos, frecuentemente mugs y tankards, fueron hechos mayormente durante el comienzo del siglo XVI. Si bien algunos están fechados antes de la disolución de los monasterios en 1540, un ejemplo fechado de 1599 indica la continuidad en la producción. Las copas fueron la especialidad de la cerámica de cerámica cisterciense, but jarros, COSTRELS, candelabros, escalafetas, saleros y bols se producían también. La mayoría de la cerámica cisterciense no tenía decoración, pero algunos ejemplos se distinguen por un cordoncillo horizontal o por ornamentación de funda blanca de rosetas o círculos.
