Note: Harvest festival celebrated by ethnic Chinese and Vietnamese peoples on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, near the autumnal equinox. The festival has roots in ancient Chinese religious rituals celebrating the harvest. It may also have ties to ancient moon-worshipping rituals. Observances included worshipping Tudi Gong (the earth god) or Tai Yin Jun (the moon god) and references to other myths and legends incorporating the moon. It is customary to have a family reunion during the full moon, to eat moon cakes, and to appreciate the beauty of the full moon.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 於中國農曆8月15日舉行的中國傳統節日，起源於先民用以祭祀農業豐收之節日，稱作「秋報」，另有傳說源自上古天子祭月禮儀的遺風。該節日與傳統農業的關係反映在祭祀土地公或太陰君(月神)的習俗。因這一天為月圓日，中國人素以月圓象徵人團圓，習慣上人們會在這天闔家團聚，吃月餅賞月。中秋節傳統活動皆與月亮相關，形成拜月、賞月、玩月等習俗，並衍伸出嫦娥奔月、吳剛伐木和白兔搗藥等傳說。 |
| Dutch ..... Oogstfestival dat wordt gevierd door etnisch Chinese en Vietnamese volkeren op de vijftiende dag van de achtste maanmaand, rond de herfstequinox. Het komt voort uit oude Chinese religieuze rituelen waarmee de oogst werd gevierd. Wellicht houdt het tevens verband met oude maanvereringsrituelen. Op deze dag worden Tudi Gong, de aardegod, en Tai Yin Jun, de maangod, vereerd, en wordt er verwezen naar andere mythen en legendes over de maan. Het is gebruikelijk om tijdens de volle maan een familiereünie te houden, maancakes te eten en de schoonheid van de maan te bewonderen. |
