Note: Refers to the style and movement organized and set in theory by Serge Diaghilev in 1898 in a publication called Mir Iskusstva and based on the ideas of Russian artists and writers active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The short-lived art movement (c.1898-c.1906) centers around the revival of Russian art through the rejection of foreign trends and abstention from zealous nationalism. The movement also provided precedent for the Symbolist and Aesthetic movements in Russia. The style is characterized by a combination of vigor and elegance, a sense of exoticism, and interaction and synthesis of the visual arts with and among other forms of art. Also refers to the exhibition society that began in 1910 after the disbanding of the movement.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de stijl en beweging opgericht door Serge Diaghilev in 1898 en door hem beschreven in een publicatie met de naam ‘Mir Iskoesstva’. Mir Iskoesstva is gebaseerd op de ideeën van Russische kunstenaars en schrijvers die actief waren in de late 19de en vroege 20ste eeuw. Bij deze kortstondige kunstbeweging (ca.1898-ca.1906) stond de wederopleving van de Russische kunst centraal. Daarbij werden buitenlandse trends afgewezen en onthield men zich van al te geestdriftig nationalisme. De beweging ging vooraf aan de symbolistische en de esthetische beweging in Rusland. De stijl wordt gekenmerkt door een combinatie van energie en elegantie, een gevoel van exoticisme en interactie en synthese tussen beeldende kunst en andere kunstvormen. Verwijst ook naar het expositiegenootschap dat in 1910 werd opgericht na ontbinding van de beweging. |

Se refiere al estilo y el movimiento organizado e iniciado en teoría por Serge Diaghilev en 1898 en una publicación llamada Mir Iskusstva y basado en las ideas de artistas y escritores rusos activos a fines del siglo XIX y principios del XX. El efímero movimiento de arte (c.1898-c.1906) se concentra en torno al renacimiento del arte ruso a través del rechazo de las tendencias extranjeras y la abstención del nacionalismo ferviente. El movimiento también proporcionó precedentes para los movimientos Simbolistas y Estéticos en Rusia. El estilo se caracteriza por una combinación de vigor y elegancia, un sentido de exotismo, y la interacción y síntesis de las artes visuales con y entre otras formas de arte. También se refiere a la sociedad de exhibición que empezó en 1910 después de la disolución del movimiento. |
