Note: Style and culture of an Iroquoian-speaking Native American tribe in southern and coastal Virginia. Related to the Meherrin and Tuscarora communities in North Carolina and southern Virginia. Today the Nottoway are recognized as two different tribes, the "Nottoway Indian Tribe" and the "Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe."
