Note: Yellow surface coating of friable material that forms on unprotected realgar exposed to light; this light-induced transformation product is found occasionally in paintings in association with the pigment. In the past, pararealgar has been confused with the pigment orpiment to which this sulfide arsenic mineral is closely related.

Dutch ..... Gele oppervlaktelaag van bros materiaal dat ontstaat op onbeschermd realgar dat aan licht wordt blootgesteld. Dit transformatieproduct is soms aanwezig op schilderijen, gekoppeld aan het pigment. Vroeger werd pararealgar wel verward met het pigment orpiment, waarmee dit mineraal, een zwavelarsenicumverbinding, nauw verwant is.
