Note: Refers to a type of potter's tool; ribs are curved pieces of wood or bone, characteristically having one flat and one curved edge. Ribs are used for shaping, curving, smoothing, trimming, or opening wet clay; they give the profile of the outside of a plate or pot. One hand presses outwards and upwards on the inside of the worked clay, while outside the rib is used to create a smooth surface.

Verwijst naar een type pottenbakkersgereedschap; #ribs zijn kromme stukken hout of been, gekenmerkt door één platte en één ronde rand. #Ribs worden gebruikt voor het vormen, buigen, gladmaken, afsnijden of openen van natte klei; ze geven profiel aan de buitenkant van een bord of pot. Eén hand drukt naar buiten en naar boven aan de binnenkant van de bewerkte klei, terwijl aan de buitenkant de #rib wordt gebruikt om een glad oppervlak te maken. |
