Chinese (traditional) ..... 東玻里尼西亞的宗教結構物,型態繁多,從小型石造平臺到簡易石砌圍蔽式構造、甚至廟宇般建築皆可涵括,其最普遍類型分佈於社會群島。至於夏威夷群島上的相似結構物,請參見「黑奧(heiaus)神廟」。 
Dutch ..... Wordt gebruikt voor Oost-Polynesische religieuze constructies met diverse vormen, van kleine stenen platforms tot eenvoudige stenen omheiningen en tempelachtige bouwwerken. Gebruik 'heiaus' voor soortgelijke bouwwerken op Hawaï. 
German ..... Religiöses Bauwerk Ost-Polynesiens in unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen, von einer schmalen Steinplattform bis zu einfachen Steinumgrenzungen. Die gebräuchlichste Form eines Marae findet sich auf den Gesellschaftsinseln in tempelähnlichen Strukturen. Für ein vergleichbares Bauwerk aus Hawaii ist "Heiau" zu verwenden. 
Spanish ..... Designa una estructura religiosa del Este de la Polinesia que puede tener varias formas, desde pequeñas plataformas de piedra, a simples encerramientos de piedra, o estructuras en forma de templo. Para estructuras similares hawaianas, use "heiau".
