Note: Double pieces consisting of outward-curving flanges of plate metal, either riveted to the pauldrons or forged in one piece with the gardbraces, designed to provide extra protection for the neck. Used from the mid-15th to the mid-16th century by horsemen, often they were made removable for foot combat or the field.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... 'Double pieces' bestaande uit naar buiten welvende flenzen van plaatmetaal, ofwel vastgenageld aan de schouderstukken ofwel aan een stuk gesmeed met de 'gardbraces'; ontworpen om extra bescherming te bieden voor de nek. Werden vanaf halverwege de 15e tot halverwege de 16e eeuw gebruikt door ruiters en waren vaak zo gemaakt dat ze afgenomen konden worden voor gevechten te voet of voor op het veld. 
Spanish ..... Doble pieza consistente en pestañas de placa de metal curvadas hacia fuera, tanto remachadas a la hombrera o forjadas en una única pieza con el guardabrazo; diseñada para proporcionar protección extra al cuello. Se empleó por los jinetes desde la mediación del siglo XV hasta medidados del siglo XVI. Con frecuencia, fueron hechas trasladables para los combates a pie o de campo.
