Note: Candlesticks usually of sheet iron on a convex disc base with a straight tubular stem bearing a round drip catcher at the top. A slot in the side of the stem accommodates a finger grip for operating the candle adjuster and ejector, and a suspension hook sometimes extends from the drip catcher. The name is believed to be derived from a resemblance to the device used to scrape the bristles from butchered hogs.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 通常以鐵片製成的蠟燭插台，具中央凸起的圓盤底座，圓盤上立有管狀直柄，柄頂有圓型滴盤以盛接燭淚；除了在直柄側邊的狹縫中有一指握器可供調整或取出蠟燭之外，有些滴盤外緣還釘有供懸掛用的鐵鉤。一般認為此燭架名稱乃因其外形極似屠宰豬隻時刮除豬鬃所用的刀具而來。 |
| Dutch ..... Kandelaars, meestal van plaatijzer, bestaande uit iets holle schijfvormige basis met een rechtopstaande buis met een ronde druiprand bovenaan. In een gleuf in de zijkant van de stang zit een oortje voor het regelen van de kaarsenversteller en het @veermechanisme; aan de druiprand zit soms nog een haak waar het geheel aan kan worden opgehangen. De naam is waarschijnlijk afgeleid van de uiterlijke overeenkomst met een voorwerp waarmee het haar van een pas geslacht zwijn werd afgeschraapt. |
| Spanish ..... Candeleros normalmente de una lámina de hierro sobre una base de disco convexo con un tronco tubular vertical que soporta un receptor de gotas redondo en la parte de arriba. Una ranura en el costado del tronco aloja un asa de dedo para hacer funcionar el regulador de la vela y eyector, y un gancho colgante se extiende algunas veces desde el goteadero. Se cree que el nombre deriva de un parecido con el aparato usado para raspar las cerdas de los chanchos faenados. |
