Note: Large shields, usually rectangular and typically with a central vertical groove on the inside into which a pole was fitted to prop the shields upright. They were commonly used from the 14th to the 16th century to protect archers on foot.

Dutch ..... Grote schilden die meestal rechthoekig zijn en worden gekenmerkt door een centrale verticale groef aan de binnenzijde waarin een stok was bevestigd om het schild rechtop te houden. Ze werden van de 14e tot de 16e eeuw veel gebruikt om boogschutters te voet te beschermen. 
Spanish ..... Escudo grande, generalmente rectangular y típicamente con una ranura central vertical en la parte interior, dentro de la cual se encontraba un asta se ajustaba al puntal del escudo enhiesto. Fueron comúnmente utilizados desde el siglo XIV hasta el siglo XVI para proteger a los arqueros de a pie.
