Note: Class of fungi having members that produce saclike structures (asci) containing ascospores in either a closed fruiting body (ascocarp) or spore balls. Best known examples of genera include Capronia (order Chaetothyriales), which includes some marine fungi, Pyrenula (order Pyrenulales), which includes wart lichens, and Eurotium (order Eurotiales), which includes species of Aspergillus for which a sexual phase of reproduction has been identified.

| Dutch ..... Klasse van schimmels met leden die zakachtige structuren (asci) produceren, met daarin ascosporen in de vorm van een gesloten vruchtlichaam (ascocarp) of van sporenballen. Tot de bekendste genera behoren Capronia (orde Chaetothyriales), waaronder enkele in zee levende schimmels vallen, Pyrenula (orde Pyrenulales), waartoe Pertusaria diluta behoort, en Eurotium (orde Eurotiales), waaronder soorten Aspergillus vallen waarvoor een seksuele voortplantingsfase is waargenomen. |
