Note: Late 18th-century womenswear comprising two parts: an outer robe with a bodice cut in one piece and and overskirt that parted to reveal a matching or coordinated petticoat. The bodice lacked center back pleats, distinguishing it from a "robe à la française or open robe.

| Dutch ..... Laat achttiende-eeuwse japon met karakteristiek nauwsluitend lijfje met driekwartsmouw, dat zowel voor als achter min of meer in een punt naar beneden uitloopt, kenmerkt zich bovenal door nauwsluitend rugpand, waaruit groot stofvolume tevoorschijn komt met tal van kleine plooitjes. Dit onderscheidt hem duidelijk van de robe à la française. Is een combinatie van onderrok en jurk; de rok eronder wordt zichtbaar doordat de robe van voren open is vanaf de taille. |
