Note: Rocks prized by Chinese scholar-officials for their distinctive shapes and crevices, seen as suggestive of the transformational powers of nature. | Dutch ..... Stenen die door Chinese geleerden worden gewaardeerd om hun karakteristieke vormen en scheuren, en die worden gezien als verbeelding van de transformatiekrachten van de natuur. Grotere stenen werden in tuinen geplaatst als unieke aandachtspunten, terwijl kleinere stenen vaak op het bureau van geleerden stonden, als microkosmische representatie van de natuur binnen de ruimte van de studeerkamer. |
