Note: Rocks prized by Chinese scholar-officials for their distinctive shapes and crevices, seen as suggestive of the transformational powers of nature. Larger stones were placed in gardens as unique focal features, while smaller rocks often adorned scholars’ desks, a microcosmic representation of the natural world within the space of the study.

Dutch ..... Stenen die door Chinese geleerden worden gewaardeerd om hun karakteristieke vormen en scheuren, en die worden gezien als verbeelding van de transformatiekrachten van de natuur. Grotere stenen werden in tuinen geplaatst als unieke aandachtspunten, terwijl kleinere stenen vaak op het bureau van geleerden stonden, als microkosmische representatie van de natuur binnen de ruimte van de studeerkamer. 
Portuguese ..... Rochas apreciadas por oficiais acadêmicos chineses por seus formatos e fendas distintas vistas como sugestivas de poderes transformadores da natureza. Pedras maiores eram colocadas em jardins como características focais únicas, enquanto pedras menores geralmente adornavam mesas de acadêmicos, uma representação microcósmica do mundo natural no espaço de estudo.
