Note: Phylum of numerous marine invertebrates characterized by a series of vertical ciliary combs over the surface of the animal. Most species float through the water, although a few creep or are parasitic. Refers to solitary, hermaphroditic, marine invertebrates of the phylum Ctenophora, found worldwide, having an ovoid, gelatinous, bilaterally symmetical body with regular, comblike rows of beating cilia for propulsion, and two trailing tentacles with adbesive cells to trap planktoon.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 含許多海生無脊椎動物的門；特徵為體表有縱列的櫛板，上有纖毛。雖然少數櫛水母以爬行或寄生於其他生物上的方式移動，但大多數櫛水母能在水中漂浮移動。櫛水母動物門並非群居動物，牠們屬雌雄同體，可見於世界各地。具卵圓形、兩側對稱的凝膠狀身體，上面長有排列整齊的冠狀纖毛列，纖毛的擺動能夠產生推進力使其移動；身後拖有兩條觸手，觸手上的黏細胞能用來捕捉浮游生物。 |
| Dutch ..... Stam van een groot aantal ongewervelde zeedieren. Kenmerkend zijn de regelmatige geplaatste verticale kammen bestaande uit trilharen die het hele lichaam van het dier bedekken en waarmee ze zich voortstuwen. De meeste soorten zweven in het water, hoewel een paar soorten kruipen of parasitair zijn. De dieren zijn hermafrodiet en komen overal ter wereld voor. Ze hebben een eivormig, gelatineachtig en bilateraal symmetrisch lichaam en slepen twee tentakels met kleefcellen achter zich aan om plankton te vangen. |
