Note: African masks worn on an axis parallel to the ground. Usually composed of a tripartite structure consisting of a helmet form at the center, with horizontal projections to the front and back, horizontal masks often have abstract animal forms where the front projection is a mouth or snout and the back projections are horns.

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 橫戴(面具中軸戴起時與地面平行)的非洲面具,通常由中央之頭盔部分與前後側的橫向隆起物三部份構造所組成,常具抽象的動物形式,前側隆起物是嘴或獸鼻,後側則為獸角。 
Dutch ..... Afrikaanse maskers die worden gedragen met de middellijn evenwijdig aan de grond. Gewoonlijk samengesteld uit drie delen: een helmvormige structuur in het midden en horizontale delen die naar voren en naar achteren uitsteken. Horizontale maskers hebben vaak abstracte diervormen waarbij het voorste uitstekende deel de bek of snuit voorstelt en het achterste uitstekende deel de hoorns. 
Spanish ..... Máscara africana que se lleva en el eje paralelo al suelo. Generalmente, se compone de una estructura tripartita consistente en una forma de yelmo en el centro, con proyeccciones horizontales en la parte delantera y traasera. Las máscaras horizontales tienen con frecuencia formas animales abstractas, donde la proyección delantera es una boca u hocico y la trasera, cuernos.
