Note: Describes automatic and semiautomatic firearms in which the pressure of the propellant gas is used to force the barrel forward from a standing breech to open the action and eject the fired case. A spring brings the barrel back to firing position and also reloads and cocks the firearm.

Te gebruiken om automatische en semi-automatische vuurwapens te beschrijven waarbij de druk van het voortstuwingsmiddel wordt gebruikt om de loop naar voren te duwen vanaf een vast staartstuk, om het mechaniek te openen en om de lege huls uit te werpen. De loop wordt in zijn afvuurpositie teruggebracht door een veer, die het vuurwapen ook herlaadt en spant. |
