Note: Refers to the period in Mesoamerica from around 300 BCE to 250 CE. Featherwork in Mesoamerica originated in this period as symbols of power and class and featured elaborate ceremonial head dresses comprised of quetzal tail feathers. Sculptural pieces of the period include pottery and effigy vessels, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic burial figures, fluted vases with distinctive parallel red lines drawn over orange slip, and bowls painted with serpentine forms on exterior rim bands. The style of architecture in the period evolved to palatial scales, featuring solid, flat or vaulted roof coverings, elaborate stairways bordered by flat ramps at each side, moldings, tableros, and masks. Pyramidal structures in the period display complex terraced, circular, and conic sections.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de periode in Meso-Amerika van circa 300 tot 250 v. Chr. Verenwerk in Meso-Amerika had zijn oorsprong in deze periode als symbool van macht en rang en bestond onder andere uit verfijnde ceremoniële hoofdtooien die waren gemaakt van veren van de staart van quetzals. Beeldhouwwerken uit deze periode omvatten aardewerk en grafurnen, zoömorfe en antropomorfe graffiguren, gegroefde vazen met karakteristieke parallelle lijnen die zijn getekend op oranje slip, en schalen die zijn beschilderd met kronkelige vormen op randbanden aan de buitenkant. De architectuurstijl in deze periode nam paleisachtige vormen aan, met robuuste, platte of gewelfde dakbedekkingen, fijn afgewerkte trappen met strekse hellingen aan weerszijden, lijstwerk, tablero's en maskers. Piramide-achtige structuren in deze periode tonen complexe cirkel- en kegelvormige secties en secties met terrassen. |
