| Dutch ..... Oude manuscripten, meestal in vorm gelijkend op een modern boek, met gebonden bladen van papier of perkament, langs beide zijden beschreven. Het zijn meestal christelijke geschriften of oude klassieken. De benaming wordt ook gebruikt voor manuscripten uit midden-Amerika, voor de verovering en tot in de vroeg-koloniale periode. Deze codexen zijn meestal van enkelvoudige lange vellen accordeon gevouwen amatl-papier of dierenhuid gemaakt. Gebruik 'incunabula' voor boeken gedrukt vóór 1501. |
