Note: Light shields or bucklers, borne instead of the heavy shield by targemen, footmen, archers, and sometimes horsemen. They were in common use by infantry soldiers from the 13th to the 16th century and in tournaments. They may be fitted concave to the body, fitted on the inside with two straps, the forearm passing through one and the hand grasping the other, or having a slot for placement of a weapon.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Wordt specifiek gebruikt voor schilden, concaaf aan het lichaam, die zijn voorzien van twee riemen aan de binnenkant, waarbij de onderarm door de één grijpt en de hand de andere vasthoudt. Ze werden overal gebruikt door infanteristen van de 13e tot de 16e eeuw. De term was ook algemeen van toepassing op verschillende soorten schilden in diverse vormen die werden gebruikt in steekspelen vanaf de 15e eeuw. 
Spanish ..... Úsese específiamente para designar escudos cóncavos para el cuerpo, fijado en el interior con dos correas, el antebrazo pasando a través de una de ellas y la mano empuñando la otra. Fueron de uso común entre los soldados de infantería desde el siglo XIII hasta el siglo XIV. El término también ha sido aplicado generalmente para varios tipos de escudos de formas diversas usados en las justas desde el siglo XV en adelante.
