Note: Lace in which the pattern is made using strips or tape set in a background of either thread bars (brides) or net. The quality is judged by whether the tape lies flat and curves continuously (which can be achieved only by using bobbins) or is ready-woven, in which case the tape is gathered at the bends and corners, and inevitably puckers. The best Genoese tape lace of the 17th century is bobbin-made; among the ready-woven tape laces are the Belgian and French laces of the 1880s, such as so-called Renaissance lace.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 以狹條或網眼為底，上飾有帶子或線帶而製成的蕾絲花樣。其品質可從線帶是否平整，彎曲的地方是否平順(唯有使用細帶才能達到這要求)或線帶是否為現成品而判斷，現成品的線帶在彎曲或轉折處會產生褶襉，免不了會起皺。17世紀最好的熱那亞(Genoese)織帶蕾絲是用細帶製成；而在現成織帶蕾絲中，則有1880年代比利時與法國的蕾絲，如文藝復興蕾絲。 |
| Dutch ..... Kant waarbij men het patroon maakt met stroken of linten op een baan van draad of tule. De kwaliteit kan men beoordelen door te kijken of het lint plat is en een continue ronding heeft (wat men alleen kan bereiken door klossen te gebruiken), dan wel kant-en-klaar is, in welk geval het lint bij de buigingen en hoeken is vastgenaaid en er onvermijdelijk plooien in komen. De beste lintkant produceerde men in de zeventiende eeuw in Genua met klossen. Kant-en-klaar lintkant maakte men in de jaren tachtig van de negentiende eeuw in België en Frankrijk, bijvoorbeeld het zogenaamde Renaissancekant. |
