Note: Motifs having the appearance of an eye, generally a human eye, as found, for example, painted or bossed on the bows of watercraft as protective devices, or, in Christian iconography, as the eye of God in the center of an equilateral triangle representing the Trinity. Distinct from "oculi (openings)" which are small round or oval openings such as windows in a wall or openings in the crown of a dome.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 外觀如眼睛一樣的紋飾，一般是人眼，做為保護裝置的繪飾或浮雕，可見於船弓之上、或是基督教肖像裡位於等邊三角形中央、代表三位一體的上帝之眼。這與「牛眼窗」一詞並不相同；「牛眼窗」是指細小的圓形或橢圓形開口，例如牆壁上的窗戶或圓形屋頂頂端的開口。 |

Motieven in de vorm van een oog, meestal een menselijk oog, onder meer aangetroffen op de boegen van watervoertuigen, waarop ze ter bescherming zijn geschilderd of gebosseleerd, of in de christelijke iconografie als het oog van God in het midden van een gelijkzijdige driehoek die de Heilige Drie-eenheid voorstelt. Anders dan 'oculi', dat wordt gebruikt voor kleine ronde of ovale openingen, zoals ramen in een muur of openingen in de top van een koepel. |
