Note: Flexible sticks of wood, very rarely of metal or plastic, carrying stretched between the two ends a length of horsehair or other stringlike material which is used to brush against the strings of a chordophone, causing them to sound. Historically bows have been evenly curved, curved only at one end, or straight in the middle with both ends curved; modern Western bows typically have a concave curve.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 可彎曲的木桿，只有極少數會用金屬或塑膠製成；兩端之間繫緊一段馬鬃或其他材質的弦線，用以磨擦弦鳴樂器的琴弦，使其發出聲音。據歷史記載有三種琴弓：均勻彎曲的弓，只有一端彎曲的弓，或兩端彎曲、中段為直的弓；而典型的現代西方琴弓則呈凹型彎曲。 |
