Record Type: concept
Brabantine Gothic (Gothic (Medieval), Medieval (European), ... Styles and Periods (hierarchy name))

Note: Gothic architecture style typical of the Low Countries, surfacing in the first half of the 14th century at Saint Rumbold's Cathedral in the City of Mechelen. The style refers to classical French gothic style. Reputed architects disseminated the style and techniques to cities and towns of the Duchy of Brabant and beyond. According to more recent investigations the concept of "Brabantine gothic" should be looked at within a historiographic context: the concept could be an expression of the search for regional identities in the 20st century, rather than a disparate building style.

Additional Notes:
Dutch .....
