Note: Ceremonial weapons of the Fon people of Dahomey, generally in the shape of an axe or crooked club with a sculpted wooden handle, and, in those of axe shape, an elaborately carved metal or wooden head. They serve as symbols of power, either of the gods of Dahomey or of its king, and are used in various secular and religious ceremonial contexts.

Dutch ..... Ceremoniële wapens van het Fon-volk in Dahome, meestal in de vorm van een bijl of kromme knots met een gebeeldhouwd houten handvat en, bij het bijlvormige type, een rijkelijk versierde metalen of houten kop. Ze dienen als machtssymbolen van de goden van Dahome of van de koning; ze worden bij diverse seculaire en religieuze ceremoniële aangelegenheden gebruikt. 
Spanish ..... Armas ceremoniales del pueblo Fon de Dahomey, generalmente en forma de un hacha o garrote curvo con un mango de madera esculpida, y en el caso de aquellas con forma de hacha, una cabeza de metal o madera tallada en forma elaborada. Sirven como símbolos de poder, tanto de los dioses de Dahomey como de su rey, y se usan en diversos contextos ceremoniales seculares y religiosos.
