Note: Discipline dealing with the written and oral verbal works of a nation, region, period, or language, of a particular group or individual, of a particular form or genre, on a particular subject, or for a particular audience. For written works on a particular subject, use "literature (documents)." For the written works of a particular individual or group of individuals, use "writings (documents)." For the genre of liturature rather than the discipline that studies it, use "literature (genre)." Use "book history" for the study of the trade, production, and consumption of books as physical objects.
