Note: Three-dimensional representations or images of a beetle, much used among the ancient Egyptians, such as for seals and amulets. Scarabs were made of various materials, glazed steatite being most common, usually having bases that are inscribed or decorated with designs. Scarabs first appeared in the late Old Kingdom (ca. 2575-ca. 2130 BCE) as evolutions from the so-called button seals. They became common in the Middle Kingdom (1938-ca. 1630 BCE).

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Amuletten in de vorm van scarabeeën, veel gebruikt door de oude Egyptenaren. 
German ..... Darstellung oder Bild eines Käfers, sehr verbreitet unter den alten Ägyptern, dort als Siegel, Symbol und Amulett. Der Skarabäus wurde aus verschiedenen Materialien hergestellt, oft aus poliertem Steatit, gewöhnlich mit Inschriften auf der Basis oder mit Mustern. Er wurde gleichzeitig als Amulett und als Siegel verwendet. Die ersten Skarabäen gab es im Alten Reich (ca. 2575-ca. 2130 v. Chr.) als Weiterentwicklung der sogenannten Knopfsiegel. Besonders verbreiten waren sie ab dem Mittleren Reich (1938-ca. 1630 v. Chr.). 
Portuguese ..... Representações tridimensionais ou imagens de um besouro muito usadas entre os egípcios antigos, por exemplo, como amuletos e selos. Escaravelhos eram feitos de vários materiais, sendo o esteatito vitrificado o mais comum; geralmente, têm bases que são inscritas ou decoradas com desenhos. Escaravelhos apareceram no final do Império Antigo (ca. 2575 - ca.2130 a.C.) como evolução do então chamado selo de botões. Eles tornaram-se comuns no Império Médio (1938 - ca.1630 a.C.). 
Spanish ..... Representaciones o imágenes de un escarabajo, muy usado entre los antiguos egipcios, tal como para sellos, símbolos o amuletos.
