Note: A Japanese school of Buddhism that includes aspects of Shingon and Shinto. it is named after the Tien Tai school of Chinese Buddhism , in 805 introduced in Japan by Saicho at his Enryakuji temple on Mount Hiei near Kyoto. The teachings focus on the 'Lotus Sutra' and the belief that all forms of life can equally attain Buddhahood. Many popular branches of Buddhism arose within Tendai, including Pure Land, Zen, and Nichiren. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 以中國天台山且在該處興起的中國佛教天台宗為名的日本佛教流派。西元805年由最澄(Saicho)於京都附近之比叡山(Mount Hiei)的延曆寺(Enryakuji temple)引入日本。最澄的教誨依據《法華經》,並以所有生命皆可成佛的信念為中心。日本天台宗包含了日本真言宗與神道的觀點。很多盛行的佛教分支皆源自日本天台宗,使其廣為流傳。淨土宗、日本禪宗,及日蓮宗皆與日本天台宗有淵源。不過雖然日本天台宗仍存在於日本,但已不如前述三種派別重要。 |
Dutch ..... Een Japanse school van het boeddhisme, genoemd naar de berg Tj'ien-T'ai in China en de Tj'ien-T'ai-school in het Chinese boeddhisme dat hier ontstond. In 805 werd Tendai in Japan geïntroduceerd door Saicho in zijn Enryakuji-tempel op de berg Hiei bij Kyoto. Saicho's leer was gebaseerd op de 'Lotus Sutra' en ging uit van zijn overtuiging dat alle levensvormen op dezelfde manier het boeddhaschap kunnen bereiken. Tendai bevat elementen van Sjingon en Shinto. Binnen Tendai ontstonden talloze populaire aftakkingen van het boeddhisme, waardoor het begrip erg breed werd. Het Reine Land-boeddhisme, het zenboeddhisme en het Nichiren-boeddhisme zijn allemaal ontstaan uit Tendai. Hoewel Tendai in Japan nog steeds bestaat als boeddhistische school, is het minder belangrijk dan de drie bovengenoemde scholen. |
Spanish ..... Una escuela japonesa de budismo que lleva el nombre de la montaña Tien Tai en China y de la escuela Tien Tai en el budismo chino que se surgió allí. En 805 Tendai fue introducida en Japón por Saicho en su templo Enryakuji en el Monte Hiei cerca de Kioto. Las enseñanzas de Saicho se basaron en el "Sutra del Loto de la Maravillosa Ley" y se centran en torno a sus creencias en que todas las formas de vida pueden igualmente alcanzar la Gran Iluminación. Tendai incluye aspectos de Shingon y Shinto. Muchas ramas populares del budismo surgieron dentro de Tendai, haciendolo increíblemente extenso. Tierra Pura, Zen y Nichiren todas tienen su origen en Tendai. Aunque Tendai es aún una escuela viable de budismo en Japón , es menos importante que las otras 3 antes mencionadas. |
