Note: An artistic movement in India that took place in Bengal between 1895 and 1910. Revivalism meant the rebirth or return to traditional Indian culture. Indigenous artistic styles and motifs with a focus on non-Western artistic values such as spirituality were emphasized. This movement was undertaken in opposition to Western style naturalism taught in the art academies.
