Note: Hair binders with two feather tassels worn by Nahua elites in the postclassic period. These were insignia of tlahtohqueh (rulers) and given as prestigious gifts to nobles and warriors in recognition of their military achievements. Several varieties were made with speicific feathers: cuauhtlalpiloni with eagle feathers, quetzallapiloni with quetzal feathers, zacuantlalpiloni with zacuan feathers, and xolotlalpiloni with yellow parrot feathers. The same term may also be used for decorations hanging from capes, sandals and other costume items. |

Spanish ..... Ataduras para el cabello con dos borlas de plumas que usaban las elites nahuas en el período posclásico. Eran insignias de los tlahtohqueh (gobernantes) y se obsequiaban a los nobles y guerreros en reconocimiento de sus logros militares. Se hacían varias variedades con plumas específicas: cuauhtlalpiloni con plumas de águila, quetzallapiloni con plumas de quetzal, zacuantlalpiloni con plumas de zacuán y xolotlalpiloni con plumas de loro amarillo. El mismo término puede usarse también para las decoraciones que cuelgan de las mantas, sandalias y otras vestimentas. |
