godet wheels (<textile fabricating tools and equipment>, textile working equipment, ... Furnishings and Equipment (hierarchy name)) |
|
Note: Driven rollers or wheels, typically tubular in shape and mounted to rotating spindles, around which the filaments of textile fibers are drawn during the manufacturing process. These devices may be heated and are often tapered at one end. The name, godet, refers to a triangular piece of material inserted in a garment to create a flared shape; its application to these textile devices is thought to have originated from the rollers' tapered geometery. Historically made from glass, the rollers are oftentimes components of larger spinning machines. |
