Note: A type of layered composite wood board made from wood wafers bonded together with a waterproof phenolic resin. Waferboard first appeared in the 1950s. It comprises thin, sliced wood chips or strands prepared in thin mats; three to five of the mats are cemented together to form the final board. It is used in the construction of houses and inexpensive furniture.

| Dutch ..... Een soort gelaagde samengestelde plaat van dunne houtplakjes, bij elkaar gehouden met waterbestendig fenolhars. Waferboard werd voor het eerst gemaakt in de jaren 50 van de 20ste eeuw. Het bestaat uit dunne hout plakjes of -schilfers, die in dunne matten worden geprepareerd; drie tot vijf matten worden samengeperst tot de uiteindelijke plaat. Het wordt gebruikt bij huizenbouw en goedkope meubels.
