Note: Prehistoric pebble core tools from the early Palaeolithic period with only one crude, irregular cutting edge formed by unifacial flaking. These were held by the blunt edge. For the later, more evolved tools with a sinuous edge, use "chopping tools."

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Prehistorisch stenen werktuig uit het vroege paleolithicum. De steen had slechts één ruwe, onregelmatige snijrand; de andere zijde was stomp zodat men de steen kon vastnemen. Later ontwikkelde deze zich tot de geavanceerdere 'chopping tool'.
