Note: In the strictest sense, very specialized blades that are disc-shaped, with a hole in the center for gripping, used in leatherworking primarily to thin the leather. For semi-circular or other rounded blades set transversely in a handle, but not fully round sharpened dics, use "head knives" or "moon knives." For rotatable sharpened discs set into a handle or device, use "rotary cutters."

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... In de meest strikte betekenis zijn dit zeer gespecialiseerde schijfvormige snijplaten, met een gat in het midden om ze vast te houden, die bij de leerbewerking worden gebruikt, vooral om het leer dunner te maken. Gebruik 'head knives' of 'slichtmanen' voor halfronde of andere ronde snijbladen die dwars in een handvat zijn gezet, maar die niet langs de hele rand geslepen zijn. Gebruik 'rolmessen' voor draaibare geslepen schijven in een handvat of apparaat.
