Note: Rococo paintings that portrays costumed figures in an idealized, poetic setting. Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Schilderijen uit de rococo waarop gekostumeerde figuren in een geïdealiseerd, poëtisch landschap afgebeeld worden. De term kan vertaald worden als 'plattelandsfeest' of 'openluchtmaaltijd', en doorgaans worden er op deze schilderijen dan ook plattelandse feestmaaltijden en ander buitenshuis vermaak weergegeven. De afgebeelde figuren zijn vaak aan het eten, dansen, flirten of naar muziek aan het luisteren. De term 'fête galante' wordt soms als synoniem gebruikt, maar schilderijen uit dat genre vertonen sierlijkere, doorgaans aristocratische scènes, met goedgeklede figuren in een pastorale omgeving.
