Note: Type of cutout animation in which flat silhouettes, often highly intricate, cut out of paper or other stiff material are silhouetted with back lighting, minutely readjusted, and each position photographed with single frame exposures. The technique was first developed by Lotte Reiniger in Germany during the 1920s.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 為剪紙動畫的一種類型，將紙或其他堅硬的材料裁切成平整的輪廓，且通常圖樣非常複雜，藉由背光照明產生剪影，再進行細節的重新調整，每個位置動作皆以單格曝光的方式拍攝。此種技術最初是由德國人洛特·雷尼格於1920年代所發明。 |
| Dutch ..... Type leganimatie waarbij platte, vaak uiterst ingewikkelde profielen uit papier of een ander stijf materiaal worden gesneden, waarna hiervan met behulp van achtergrondverlichting schaduwbeelden worden gemaakt. De profielen worden minutieus bewogen en van iedere stand wordt een apart beeld gefilmd. De techniek werd voor het eerst door Lotte Reiniger in de jaren '20 van de 20e eeuw in Duitsland ontwikkeld. |

El tipo de animación de recorte en el cual las siluetas, a menudo altamente intrincados planos, cortados del papel o de otro material tieso se siluetean con la iluminación trasera y cada posición se fotografía con exposiciones del marco.
