Note: Rubbing or scraping the flesh side of leather with a hand tool, such as a moon knife, to make it soft and pliable. Distinct from "staking" in that the leather is secured and the tool is moved. It is a gentler operation than staking, and done mainly on furred or woolled skins or delicate ones.

Te onderscheiden van 'stollen', omdat het leer is bevestigd en het gereedschap beweegt. Het is een mildere behandeling dan 'stollen' en wordt voornamelijk op huiden met bont of wol of op kwetsbare huiden toegepast. |
