Note: Roofs having rafters as framing; rafters are very long planks that incline from a point along a central ridge beam and meet in an intersection with the outer walls, in stick framing.The function of the long planks is to hold up the roofing frame as well as the roof sheathing. Compare to "truss and beam roofs," which use triangular forms as further support for the roof.
