Beispiele hierfür sind Decken oder Vorhänge, die über einem Thron, einer Couch, einem Bett usw. aufgehängt sind oder über einer Person gehalten werden, die in einer Prozession geht, oder architektonisch ein dachartiger, verzierter Vorsprung, der eine Nische, eine Tür, ein Fenster, ein Grabmal usw. überragt.
